At Good Man Brand, we’ve always believed that style and sustainability should go hand in hand. The new The Halo Sneaker is proof that responsible design and premium craftsmanship can exist without compromise.

Our most sustainable sneaker to date was created in partnership with Balena Science, a leader in material science innovation. Featuring a fully circular sole (biodegradable and recyclable), plant-based alternatives to leather, and a design built for everyday wear.

Why It’s Good:

• Biodegradable Sole: The Halo’s outsole features Balena’s BioCir® Flex technology, derived from renewable sources like castor beans and oils, and is fully compostable and recyclable. Unlike traditional rubber or plastic soles that take centuries to break down, BioCir® Flex is designed to return to nature or be repurposed, ensuring zero waste.
  
  
• Plant-Based Leather Upper: The black colorway features a GrapeSkin® leather upper, an innovative material derived from repurposed grape skins, stalks, and seeds from the winemaking industry. The white Halo sneaker is made from bio-based vegan leather, a plant-derived alternative that delivers the durability and look of premium leather without the environmental toll.

Fully Circular Sole

Traditional sneakers often end up in landfills, taking decades (if not centuries) to break down. The Halo aims to change that by introducing circularity into the lifecycle. 

We’re currently exploring a take-back program designed to encourage responsible disposal. Instead of throwing old sneakers away, customers will have the option to return them for proper composting or recycling. More details will be announced in Spring 2025..
